It is with great pleasure to inform you that the WABIP had a very successful 2019, gaining new members and societies, launching new projects and grants, increasing our social media activity and presence, and promoting IP worldwide. Here are some WABIP highlights in the past 12 months:
- 700 new members, thus bringing the total to over 9,200 WABIP members
- New member societies:
- Asociación Colombiana de Broncoscopia y Neumologia Intervencionista
- Czech Republic Bronchology Association
- Ecuadorian Society of Thisiology and Thorax Diseases
- Lebanese Pulmonary Society
- Nepal College of Chest Physicians
- Respiratory Society of Kenya
- Society for Advanced Bronchoscopy (USA)
- Bronchoscopy co-sponsored courses held in 2019: Mexico, Algeria, Australia, Hungary, Spain, Bolivia, Paraguay, Indonesia
- Continued offerings of travel grants and other resources for WABIP members
- Very active social media presence with continuing growth of followers
- Over 300 confirmed WCBIP Shanghai participants so far. Growing by the day!
- Further growth of the WABIP Academy with new resources such as the Lecture Library and Podcast (see www.wabipacademy.com)
- Increased WABIP presence in regional society congresses
- Continuation and growth of official journals: Respirology, Respiration, and JOBIP
With your support, we will continue to grow the WABIP in 2020, with Shanghai in April (www.WCBIP.org) taking the center stage. We are committed to the use of new technologies to improve physician performance and communication so that patients may more rapidly benefit from the increasing number of medical and surgical procedures available for the diagnosis and treatment of airway, lung, esophageal and pleural diseases.
