WABIP Visiting Scholar Travel Grant PURPOSE: To expand the practice of Interventional Pulmonology and Disease Management in a developing country, by providing financial support to the scholar (grantee) to travel abroad for one-on-one mentorship with a known expert who will continue to follow-up with the scholar upon the scholar’s return to his or her country. COVERAGE: The WABIP will cover airfare and other travel expenses as well as part of lodging expenses (depending on submitted budgets) for the scholar, up to a total amount of $5000 USD. ELIGIBILITY: A WABIP member who is able to affect change in his or her country, and who is from a Low Income or Lower-Middle Income economy, according to World Bank classifications. OUTCOME MEASURES: The selected candidate must submit a report immediately after training and another report one year after implementation of changes in his or her country. RECOGNITION: An article about the visiting scholar will be placed in the WABIP Newsletter, on the WABIP website, and the scholar will be acknowledged at the WABIP World Congress. SELECTION: The grantee will be selected by vote of the WABIP Executive Board. WABIP Society Visiting Professor Travel Grant PURPOSE: In order to help educate members of a developing country’s bronchology society in bronchology and interventional pulmonology. COVERAGE: The WABIP will pay airfare and travel expenses for one speaker/member of the WABIP to attend and teach at the country’s congress, up to a total amount of $5000 USD. The speaker/member shall be determined by the Executive Board, in consideration of the needs of the candidate. The society must agree to cover all hotel and meal requirements for the WABIP Visiting Professor. ELIGIBILITY: The candidate must be a member society of the WABIP representing physicians from a Low Income, Lower-Middle Income or Upper-Middle Income economy, according to World Bank classifications.
