Bronchoscopy Education Project – Overview
The WABIP has helped sponsor and conduct numerous educational seminars and hands on sessions around the world. In cooperation and with the assistance of transnational groups of physician educators, certified instructors and master instructors, programs have already been held in over 30 countries including: Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Indonesia, Argentina, Peru, Algeria, El Salvador, Ecuador, Bolivia, Spain, Hungary, Serbia, Canada, and The United States.
Through the Bronchoscopy Education Project (BEP), the WABIP is actively promoting a uniform, multidimensional structured curriculum to help assure that fundamentals of bronchoscopy are learned and mastered similarly regardless of one’s place of practice or medical environment.
This competency-oriented program is based on proven principles of education and mastery learning. Active engagement time is maximized during hands-on workshops by using low teacher to learner ratios. Validated assessment tools, checklists, models, computer simulation, patient-centered case-based exercises, didactic lectures, and interactive sessions help assure that bronchoscopy-related knowledge and skill are acquired.
In addition to programs for all learner interests, Faculty Development Programs (Train the Trainers) are conducted to empower a growing number of bronchoscopy educators so they may improve their teaching techniques and become more familiar with Fundamentals of Bronchoscopy© learning resources in order to implement these proven methodologies into their regional or national training programs and seminars.
Apply for Financial Assistance (WABIP Cosponsorship)
The WABIP offers to provide course organizers with partial financial assistance and various educational resources so they may host a series of on-site learning seminars, hands-on workshops, and faculty development programs.

• Faculty Development Program (FDP, aka: Train the Trainers) example course schedule
Day 1: Working dinner from 5-9 pm. Includes Welcome icebreaker, description of Bronchoscopy Education Project, distribution of course workbooks, self-assessments, overview of learning objectives and educational philosophies, team member identification, demonstration of practical approach exercise, and review of evening individual and team assignments.
Day 2: May be devoted to an Introduction to Flexible Bronchoscopy Program in which FDP participants contribute as both attendees and/or instructors. FDP program as follows occurs either on Day 2 or Day 3.
